As you depart from Arusha, sit back and enjoy the scenic drive through ever-changing landscapes and vegetation. The journey takes approximately two hours, offering glimpses of local life along the way—farmers tending their fields, stone quarries in operation, and Maasai herders guiding their cattle in search of water and pasture. Despite its small size, Lake Manyara National Park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts and home to a rich variety of wildlife. You’ll encounter elephants, wildebeests, numerous giraffes, and buffaloes, as well as large populations of zebras, impalas, warthogs, and waterbucks. After a rewarding day of exploration, continue to Karatu for your overnight stay.
Your day begins with an early breakfast at the hotel before setting off on a scenic drive through Ngorongoro en route to the Serengeti National Park. Take a moment to soak in the breathtaking landscapes stretching endlessly across the horizon. You’ll explore the central region of the park, known as the Seronera area—renowned for its abundant wildlife and nourished by the life-giving Seronera River. Here, you’ll encounter vast herds of wildebeests and zebras migrating side by side, elegant giraffes, leaping antelopes and gazelles, mighty elephants, and a remarkable array of predators. With a bit of luck, you may catch sight of sleek cheetahs, elusive leopards, scavenging hyenas, and of course, the majestic lion—the king of the savannah.
Begin your day with an early morning game drive across the vast Serengeti plains, seeking out wildlife you might have missed the day before. Witness an unforgettable sunrise as golden light spreads over the savannah, illuminating the landscape while predators such as lions and leopards prowl in search of their morning prey. For a truly unique experience, you may choose to float silently above the plains in a hot air balloon—an optional activity that lets you admire the untouched beauty of the Serengeti from the sky. Please consult your safari expert if you’d like to include this adventure. After breakfast, continue exploring the endless grasslands in your open-roof vehicle, packed lunch on board. Don’t forget your hat and sunglasses as you relax and embrace the wonders of nature surrounding you.
Begin your morning with another exciting game drive across the Serengeti plains, capturing the sights and wildlife you may have missed the previous day. Experience the magic of a Serengeti sunrise as the golden light ignites the savannah and predators like lions and leopards emerge for their morning hunt. In the afternoon, begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying a game drive along the way. Your driver will take a different route from the one traveled on day two, giving you the chance to appreciate the distinct beauty of both world heritage sites—from the sunlit plains of the Serengeti to the lush montane forests of Ngorongoro.
With your picnic lunches packed, today’s adventure takes you down into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day exploration with your guide. Descending 610 meters into the crater floor, you’ll discover one of the world’s largest and most spectacular calderas, spanning about 260 square kilometers. The crater is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the famed Big Five—lion, elephant, rhino, leopard, and buffalo—alongside hippos, cheetahs, antelopes, and spotted hyenas. You’ll also encounter a wide variety of bird species and other fascinating animals such as vervet monkeys, jackals, foxes, hyraxes, warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, and hares. After a thrilling day of game viewing, you’ll continue your journey toward Tarangire.
After an early breakfast, depart from your hotel and drive to Tarangire National Park. This remarkable park is famous for its massive elephant herds, sometimes numbering up to 300, as well as large populations of migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, impalas, gazelles, hartebeests, and elands that roam and graze along the dry riverbeds. The Silale Swamp, a vital water source within the park, attracts an astonishing variety of over 550 bird species—one of the highest concentrations of breeding birds found in any single habitat worldwide. Tarangire is also known for its tree-climbing pythons, along with lions and leopards that prowl the savannah. Later in the day, you’ll drive back to Arusha, marking the end of your safari adventure.
