Nestled along the steep slopes and river valleys bordering the sandy northern shores of Lake Tanganyika, Gombe offers a rare opportunity to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. In addition to tracking these fascinating primates, you’ll also enjoy nature walks through the lush forest and visit scenic spots such as the beautiful Kakombe Waterfalls, making this an unforgettable adventure in the wild.
Early morning pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam for a flight to Kigoma. Upon arrival, visit the Dr. Livingstone Memorial Center in Ujiji Village, then proceed to Kibirizi Port for a boat ride to Gombe Stream National Park. After lunch at the rest house, enjoy an evening chimpanzee trek and spot other wildlife such as colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, dik-diks, and various tropical birds.
After an early breakfast, you will take off for an amazing morning chimpanzee tracking in the forest. You will also visit Kakombe Waterfalls, which is one of the best attractions in the park. If time allows, you can climb Jane’s Peak, where you will have a chance to enjoy the view of the park. Meals and your overnight stay will be at Gombe Rest House.
After breakfast, enjoy chimpanzee trekking through different valleys and a nature walk to the beautiful Mkenge Waterfall. After lunch at the lodge, pack up and take a boat transfer back to Kigoma Town in the evening.
After an early morning breakfast, you will be picked up and travel back to the airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. This is where your safari will end.
