Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by transfer to your hotel in Arusha for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay after your long flight.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Natron and have lunch at Lake Natron Camp. In the afternoon, visit the lake to see flocks of flamingos and other water birds. Lake Natron, the sixth largest lake in Tanzania, is famously known as the “flamingo factory,” being the only breeding ground for East Africa’s flamingos. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After descending from the mountain, spend the day relaxing at your beautiful tented lodge. In the evening, enjoy a refreshing swim under a stunning waterfall to rejuvenate your mind, body, and muscles. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
The Sonjo are a Bantu-speaking community of about 30,000 people living in northern Tanzania’s Ngorongoro District, roughly 30–40 miles west of Lake Natron. Having migrated from Central Africa over 4,000 years ago, the Sonjo settled in this fertile region, where their agricultural lifestyle could thrive. Over centuries, they assimilated customs from neighboring tribes while maintaining their distinct traditions. Today, their primary way of life revolves around herding and agriculture.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Eyasi and check in at your lodge upon arrival. After lunch, visit the Datoga tribe, a pastoralist community similar to the Maasai but also renowned for their silversmithing skills. The Datoga craft iron tools such as knife and spear tips, which they trade with the Hadzabe for honey and fruits. Believed to have migrated from the Horn of Africa around 3,000 years ago, the Datoga are easily recognized by their reddish-brown attire that blends with the soil, traditional beadwork, and the women’s distinctive circular facial scarification patterns symbolizing beauty. Enjoy an immersive cultural experience as you visit their homesteads and learn about their way of life. Later, return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, visit the Hadzabe Bushmen at Lake Eyasi, one of Africa’s last true hunter-gatherer tribes. Experience their traditional hunting, honey gathering, and dance rituals while learning about their ancient lifestyle. Later in the afternoon, drive to Karatu for relaxation, dinner, and overnight at your lodge.
On this day after breakfast you will be transferred direct to the airport to connect you with a flight back home.
