This is the perfect safari itinerary to experience the very best of Tanzania’s northern circuit and witness the world-famous Great Wildebeest Migration. Spend two unforgettable days in the iconic Serengeti, exploring its endless plains teeming with wildlife. Your journey also includes visits to Tarangire or Lake Manyara National Park, and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater—celebrated as the 8th wonder of the world.
After an early breakfast, depart from your hotel and drive to Tarangire National Park. This remarkable park is famed for its large herds of elephants—sometimes numbering up to 300—and its impressive diversity of wildlife including migratory wildebeest , zebras, buffaloes, impalas, gazelles, hartebeests, and elands that graze and browse along the Tarangire River. The Silale Swamp, a key feature of the park, attracts over 550 bird species, making it one of the best birding destinations in Tanzania. Tarangire is also home to tree-climbing pythons, as well as lions and leopards that can often be spotted resting in the shade. After a full day of adventure and game viewing, you will head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Your day begins with an early breakfast at the hotel before setting off on a scenic drive through the Ngorongoro highlands en route to Serengeti National Park. Take a moment to breathe in the beauty of the vast landscapes stretching endlessly before you. You’ll venture into the central region of the park, known as the Seronera area—famous for its abundant wildlife and nourished by the life-giving Seronera River. Here, you’ll witness countless herds of wildebeests and zebras migrating together, elegant giraffes towering above the plains, and antelopes and gazelles leaping gracefully across the grasslands. Keep your eyes peeled for majestic elephants, agile cheetahs, elusive leopards, scavenging hyenas, and of course, the undisputed king of the savannah—the lion.
Begin your day with an early morning game drive across the Serengeti plains, trying to capture what may have been missed the
previous day. Experience the magic of an unforgettable sunrise as the sun sets fire to the golden savannah and predators such
as lions and leopards embark on their morning hunt.
Alternatively, for a truly unique adventure, you may opt for a hot air balloon safari — a breathtaking experience that lets you
drift silently over the untouched landscapes of the Serengeti in the calm of dawn. This is an optional activity; please confirm
in advance with your safari expert if you wish to include it.
After breakfast, continue exploring the vast Serengeti savannah in your open-roof vehicle with packed lunch on board. Put on your
hat and sunglasses and enjoy a full day immersed in the wonders of nature.
Begin your day with an early morning game drive across the Serengeti plains, seeking to capture the sights and moments you may have missed on the previous day. Witness an unforgettable sunrise as the first light sets the vast savannah ablaze, while predators like lions and leopards prowl in search of their morning meal.
Later in the afternoon, start your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying a game drive en route. Your driver will take a different route from the one you used earlier, offering fresh scenery and wildlife encounters. This drive provides a remarkable transition from the golden grasslands of the Serengeti to the lush montane forests of Ngorongoro — a rare opportunity to experience the contrast between two of Tanzania’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites in a single day.
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater with your picnic lunch for a full-day game drive. Explore the world’s largest unbroken caldera, home to the Big Five, hippos, cheetahs, antelopes, hyenas, and a variety of bird species. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, return to Arusha in the evening.
