Western Tanzania offers a rare and remote safari experience, combining Mahale Mountains, Gombe Stream, and the
wildlife-rich Katavi National Park. Katavi—Tanzania’s 4th largest park—is known for its vast herds of buffalo
and elephants, along with lions, hyenas, leopards, wild dogs, and hippos.
This safari focuses on exceptional game drives, chimpanzee trekking, walking safaris, bird-watching, and scenic
exploration. The program includes 3 nights in Katavi and 2 nights in Mahale, giving you the chance to encounter
chimpanzees and other unique species found only in Tanzania’s western parks.

exploration. The program includes 3 nights in Katavi and 2 nights in Mahale, giving you the chance to encounter
chimpanzees and other unique species found only in Tanzania’s western parks.
You will be met by our ground handling team upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport / Arusha Airport / Julius Nyerere International Airport and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha or Dar es Salaam for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Depart Arusha/Dar es Salaam Airport on a shared charter flight to Mahale. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred by speedboat along Lake Tanganyika to Mahale Mountains National Park.
After breakfast, you’ll head out for chimpanzee tracking and bird watching, observing how the chimps interact
and live within their family groups. You’ll also visit the chimpanzee research center and take a short hike to
the nearby waterfalls.
In the late afternoon, unwind on the sandy beach of Lake Tanganyika, enjoying the sunset or taking a
relaxing boat ride along the lakeshore in search of hippos.
After breakfast, depart Mahale for Arusha or Dar es Salaam. Your journey includes a boat transfer followed by a shared charter flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Julius Nyerere International Airport, where you will connect with your international flight home.
